Spratton Local History Society remembered all 18 young men from the village of Spratton whose lives were sacrificed in the First World War and laid a wreath at the foot of the War Memorial. They especially remembered William John Smith of the Northamptonshire Regiment who was killed in France on 2 November 1914 and was the first man from the village to die in the war. His name is on the Menin Gate in Ypres.
A wreath was also laid in memory of William Rhodes-Moorhouse VC of the Royal Flying Corps who died on 26 April 1915.
