Much has been written about William Barnard Rhodes-Moorhouse, the first British airman to be awarded the Victoria Cross. From 1899 to 1913, over half his lifetime, his home was the small Northamptonshire village of Spratton.
Flying machines that were little more than wood and wire, Rhodes-Moorhouse was a pioneer in the developing aeronautical world.
